Grand Performances provides one of the finest outdoor venues in Downtown Los Angeles. Nestled on Bunker Hill, GP has lead the revitalization of Downtown through decades of cross-cultural experiences blending the diverse make-up of the Angeleno community.

I worked under the mentorship of Leigh Ann Hahn, Programming Director extraordinaire, bon vivant, and a who’s who of Los Angeles movers and shakers. This was a paid internship through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission arts internship program. I helped produce more than 20 shows over the course of the summer: Thursday night films, and concerts on Friday afternoon, Friday night and Saturday night.

Duties

Coordination of travel arrangements, riders, cross-platform marketing, intermission schedule presentation, merchandise sales including all cashflow responsibilities and paying out to artist/management, on-site fundraising, interfacing between artist, management, GP admin and technical directors. Also assisted in artist visa and travel booking for the City of Los Angeles’ participation in the Guadalajara FIL Int’l Book Fair.

Acts Presented

Entire season here! Highlights included: Q&A with Hal David, Rocky Dawuni & MC Raï, Watcha Clan from France (and riding back from the airport with Lododo playing accordion with his feet hanging out the passenger-side window as we sit in traffic), Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq, the illustrious Zap Mama, and a special fundraiser for the City of LA with Tower of Power.
